Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (226 grams) cream cheese, room temperature
- 9 ounces (255 grams) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well-drained
- 14 ounces (397 grams) jar or can of artichokes, well-drained and chopped
- 20 Rhodes frozen rolls
Cheese and Dairy:
- 1 1/4 cups (125 grams) shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup (50 grams) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/3 cup (80 milliliters) sour cream
- 1/3 cup (80 milliliters) mayonnaise
Seasonings and Extras:
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Melted butter for brushing
Instructions
- Prepare two 9-inch round pans by coating them thoroughly with melted butter or nonstick spray. Position a 6-inch bowl upside down in the center of each pan to create a divot.
- Distribute ten frozen rolls evenly around each inverted bowl. Lightly mist rolls with cooking spray and cover with plastic wrap. Drape a kitchen towel over the pans and allow them to rest in a warm location for 2-3 hours until the rolls have visibly expanded to double their original size.
- Drain spinach and artichokes completely, removing all excess moisture. Finely chop both ingredients and set aside in a separate bowl.
- Create the dip by whisking cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, parmesan, mozzarella, salt, pepper, garlic, basil, and red pepper flakes until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in the chopped spinach and artichokes. Refrigerate the mixture while rolls continue rising.
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) approximately 30 minutes before baking.
- Remove the bowls from the center of each pan once rolls have fully risen. Carefully spoon the prepared spinach artichoke mixture into the central space of each pan.
- Generously brush the rolls with melted butter to enhance browning and flavor.
- Bake for 25-28 minutes, rotating pans halfway through, until rolls achieve a rich golden-brown color and are cooked thoroughly.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Serve immediately while warm and gooey for optimal taste and texture.
Notes
- Squeeze spinach and artichokes thoroughly to prevent a watery dip and ensure a creamy, rich texture.
- Use room temperature cream cheese for smoother blending and easier mixing of the dip ingredients.
- Try different cheese varieties like fontina or gruyère to customize the flavor profile of the dip.
- For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream and use low-fat cream cheese to reduce overall calories.
